Disney Invades the Pulpits of America

The following is from Disney Invades the Pulpits of America.

Mickey Mouse has found his way into the pulpits of America’s churches as the Walt Disney Corporation has sponsored a sermon contest to boost ticket sales for the Narnia Chronicles: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. “All contributors who submit a qualifying Narnia-related sermon transcript or sermon outline will be automatically entered to win a free trip to London, England – The Land of CS Lewis, along with $1,000 spending money,” the advertisement at SermonCentral, a Christian website linked to the movie’s marketing campaign, states. In a bid to recreate the box office success of Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ among conservative Christians, the Walt Disney Corporation has hired Motive Marketing to pull the “Christian” market into the theatre. Churches have been offered free Narnia posters, Sunday school lesson plans, and other marketing materials that tout the film’s “Christian” message.

All we need now is movie trailers before the sermon.
