Thek_1 This evening, Melissa and I are meeting up with the Reformed Angler and family to take in a Royals game at the K. The picture to the right should be our approximate vantage point.

As I noted in an earlier post, the Royals are locked in a four-way battle for sole possession of last place in the Majors. Here are the current standings with record, losing percentage, and games back as of this morning.

Kansas City Royals          57-91  .615  —
Tampa Bay Devil Rays   57-90  .612  0.5
Chicago Cubs                     59-89  .601  2.0
Pittsburgh Pirates            61-87  .588  4.0

The Royals have already blown their chance to have their worst season since they can no longer top the 105 losses from last year. As you can see, their nearly season-long grip on last place is also at risk.

  1. Go Royals!
Hey, great you’re meeting up with the Reformed Angler. Have a great time at the game…

  2. Thank Kairos. We did have a great time. Denis took some pictures and expect he may post some Sunday. The Royals won 7-4 and Redman pitched within one out of complete game! A good time was had all (except for Seattle of course.)

  3. A question no one can really answer is, If them Royals and Devil Rays were in the NL, then what would their record be? And flip-flop: If the Cubbies were in the AL, then what would their record be?
Isn’t the AL supposed to be substantially the better league, with better teams overall?

  4. Well that would be the theory. Of course, maybe the reason they all have such good records is that they get to play Tampa Bay and Kansas City more often.
