“Dr Wayne Grudem’s latest errors” Peter Kirk

From the Better Bibles Blog: Dr. Wayne Grudem's latest errors Peter Kirk

I regret having to make this point in its own blog post, with the potential for quite a lot of publicity through searches etc. It is never pleasant having to point the errors of my brothers in Christ. I tried to do this in a less prominent place through a comment on the post in which the error was found, but my comment there was deleted, on the basis that it was off topic although it was in direct response to a point in the post I was commenting on. But I do consider it important to correct clear errors of fact which I find in blog posts or elsewhere, especially when these are written by well-known teachers, whose words some people, sadly, are likely to take as close to gospel truth. I have written more about this on my own blog. …

Interesting post! It is about Greek, and I have no idea what Peter is saying, but it is still interesting stuff.

I love occasionally listening in on the squabbles with Evangelical leaders like Grudem. In a twisted way, it helps me appreciate that my tribe is not that unusual. But personally, I think I will stay with my mainline Presbyterian tribe. It is much more fun to fight about sex than Greek. 😉

  1. Thanks for the link. But I am not a leader, although I have a a master’s degree in theology. And I am not in an evangelical denomination, although I would call myself an evangelical (some others might not). I am a lay member of the Church of England, which is not as liberal as its US Episcopal sister church but cannot be called an evangelical denomination.

  2. Sorry about that Peter. I worded my post poorly. I altered it a little to hopefully be clearer. While I didn’t know your precise affiliations, I knew you were from the other side of the pond. Thanks for clarifying.

  3. Thanks for the article. I went to Peter’s blog and then to Threads from Henry’s Web. There, he had Suzanne McCarthy’s posts on Junia. It was all very enlightening. The classic comment from Henry’s Web concerning the Wallace article upon which Grudem bases his argument is that the easiest way to refute Wallace’s arguments is to use his Greek grammar. Ironic.

  4. You are welcome, Rusty.
