Blogging ‘set to peak next year’

BBC: Blogging 'set to peak next year'

The blogging phenomenon is set to peak in 2007, according to technology predictions by analysts Gartner.

The analysts said that during the middle of next year the number of blogs will level out at about 100 million.

The firm has said that 200 million people have already stopped writing their blogs.

…….

Technorati is tracking more than 57 million blogs, of which it believes around 55% are "active" and updated at least every three months.

  1. Technorati is tracking more than 57 million blogs, of which it believes around 55% are “active” and updated at least every three months.
Or every three hours, as in your case….
I’m not sure I would describe a blog that is updated every three months as “active”, but I suspect that many blogs will eventually wither.
I notice that a lot of Presby bloggers have tapered down to 2-3 times/week or even less.

  2. Hehehe…I have Blogsessive compulsive disorder.
As you will note, though, most of my posts merely link to other stories. I use my blog partly to capture and archive stories that I want to use for other purposes. Yet linking them here also tells others about stuff that interests me. I am down to 4 or 5 original posts a week.

  3. I should also add that in light of the work you do and other committments you have, I am impressed with both the quantity and qualtiy of the posts at your blog!
