Kansas City Star: Wildcat fans gearing up for Jayhawks

Ksu_ku A welder does his thing in the upper balcony Wednesday afternoon, sparks flying, inside the beloved building that was the site of the last time Kansas State defeated Kansas in a men’s basketball game in this town.

Here, inside Ahearn Field House, track and field team members go about their business, no concern about having to clear out soon for a basketball game. K-State stopped playing at Ahearn in 1988. The last time the Wildcats can claim they knocked off the Jayhawks in Manhattan occurred Jan. 29, 1983 at Ahearn. K-State edged KU 58-57.

Several miles away, inside Bramlage Coliseum, K-State is going through its shoot-around in preparation for a 7 p.m. tip tonight between No. 2 KU and No. 22 K-State. …

I was in Grad school at KSU when this last happened and I remember it. I'm hoping they can end the 25 year drought. This guy will be watching with me tonight.

Isaac says the Wild Kitties will defeat those nasty Jayhawk bird things by three points.

…………

UPDATE: Kansas 75, Kansas State 84!  Does Isaac know how to call 'em or what?

Congrats to KSU Basketball!

  1. Well it is 8:50 and it is looking pretty good for K-State. I hope the streak is about to come to an end.

  2. They got ’em, Brad. I think the Cats showed they are for real.

  3. Isaac, thou art gorgeous.

  4. Thanks “Mandy.” He has his moments. 🙂

  5. My mom says that Drake is ranked higher than your purple players.

  6. Well the Wild Kitties lost to the MU Tiggers. That didn’t help their ratings much. They did beat KU and as far as I’m concerned that alone makes a great season. 🙂
