The Lastest in Worship Teams?

I've often joked that one album I'd like to see is "Bob Dylan Sings Your Favorite Opera Hits." Some genres are just not meant to be mixed. I came across this clip on Kevin Cawley's blog, and with him, I'm speechless. This is just not right. 🙂

  1. What was that? I thought worship was to be respectful!

  2. Actually, I’m not sure this was a worship service. I suspect it was part of concert.
I’m responding to the combination of the music style, the lyrics, the dance moves, the clothing and the stage setup. It comes across as a SNL skit.
You see the copyright at the end says The Way International. This is a highly sectarian group that rejects the deity of Christ and the Trinity.

It looks like a bad network marketing pep rally…which I suppose it kind of is.

  4. With the dancing at least we know they’re not Southern Baptist.

  5. Actually found the setting. It was at the “Harvest Concert” 2007 http://www.theway.org/Current/Harvest07/Fall%20Harvest%20Concert%202007.htm

    LOL.
Part of what makes it so weird is that they are dressed so conservatively and then they start doing these Latin moves. Then the guy throws in a little bit of Michael Jackson.
Clearly not Southern Baptist … or anything else I’ve ever seen.

  7. BTW, thanks for the context Alan.

  8. Awe come on, guys… I did chuckle at these and other comments, but hey – maybe it took some guts for the performers to decide to get up there and do it… I thought it was some OK fun for all… secure performing folks could enjoy a laugh at others parodying them too.
