According to today's BLS labor report, the gap between the male jobless rate (8.3%) and female jobless rate (6.7%) widened to 1.6%, which is the largest male-female jobless rate gap in BLS history (back to 1948).

  1. Could point to to declines in the predominately male dominated roles of construction, manufacturing, etc.
    As a bright spot my industry (teleconferencing/video conferencing) is growing nicely as corporations restrict travel.

  2. A very badly argued article in the Guardian recently tried to demonstrate that women would be worst hit by the ‘recession’. Seems this hypothesis is not being borne out by the facts.
