My fourth post on economics is up at Jesus Creed. It focuses on sustainable growth and whether we are running out of natural resources. Feel free to join us there for discussion.

Years ago my husband was working in a National Rec. Area and taught gold panning to the tourists. He made friends with a family from San Diego. The father, Tony, was an executive at some sort of manufacturing enterprise just into Mexico, and in the course of conversation he told us this story. The company hired an efficiency expert to spot waste, and it was Tony’s job to show this man the plant. They passed by an office whose occupant had his feet on the desk and was taking a nap. The efficiency expert began to complain to Tony about how wasteful that nap was. Tony told him that the napper was responsible for more money-making innovation at the company than anyone else, which comment shut the efficiency expert up for a while.

LOL
I’ve long believed that institutional nap times after lunch time would greatly improve our efficiency and state of well being.
