Top All-Time Donors, 1989-2010 (Campaign Contributors)

I'm showing only the top 26 … those who gave more than $20 million. Look at all the pretty blue donkeys! 🙂

Of the top 100, only Amway, at #87, has three elephants beside it.

(BTW: Anyone remember that 1992 movie "Sneakers" with Robert Redford? "Open Secrets" reminded me of CTEC Astronomy… letters rearranged to spell "Too many secrets.")

  1. WOW!
Does this mean that what we really have is “crony Keynesianism,” rather than crony capitalism?

  2. What we have is corporatocracy….

  3. I do find it surprising, though, that the topmost givers are almost all non-corporate entities–presumably out to help the “little guy.”

  4. Victor, I found that surprising as well. Half of the top 20 are labor unions.
It also seems clear that AT@T still takes leads in knowing how to reach out and “touch” someone. 🙂

hahaha good one. “free speech” my ass. speech just got a lot more expensive, and guess who won’t be able to pay!

  6. Nice one, Mike. You made me laugh.

  7. The only difference between corporations and the unions, is most corporations (not including financial investment firms) produce something and create jobs for people with pay scales that include, low, middle and high income for their employees. CEO’s and Executives get paid based upon the corporations profits. (many are way overpaid)
Unions are structured like corporations, only they don’t produce anything, they employ very few people, they represent a very small % of the total work force, most of their employees are paid high wages and benefits, their CEO’s and executives are overpaid, just like corporation CEO’s and Executives, and they get paid whether they do anything constructive or not.
What’s interesting about the Obama jobs act is the only jobs it proposes to create are ALL union jobs. The act doesn’t help 80-90$ of the American work force.
