Isaac’s Birthday Dilemma

P1020150a

This is a picture of Isaac and me watching March Madness this weekend. (Isaac prefers teams like Cougars, Wildcats, and Tigers.) This week Isaac turns 18 years old!

You may remember that I did a post about Isaac getting his Walgreens prescription discount card a couple of years ago. Well, now it is time to get Isaac registered to vote. The problem is what party to choose. He is thinking Republicat because he believes in protecting his borders (Prowl softly and brandish sharp claws.) On the other hand, since he believes he has a fundamental right to shelter, food, and veterinary care, he is considering becoming a Democat. Then again, since he doesn't like any authority telling him what to do, maybe he should be Libertabbian. Any suggestions?

  1. Are you thinking of getting him in on any senior discounts or AARP (using his age in “human” years)?
Or maybe that’s how he got his Walgreens card?
    Love the picture.

  2. If ever there were a Royalist …

  3. I’m with codepoke based on his Majesties regal manner.

  4. This amusing deliberation over Isaac’s possible party affiliation reminded me of an interesting book called Cat and Dog Theology: Rethinking Our Relationship with Our Master.
    The gist:
There is a joke about cats and dogs that conveys their differences perfectly. A dog says, ‘You pet me, you feed me, you shelter me, you love me, you must be God.’ A cat says, ‘You pet me, you feed me, you shelter me, you love me, I must be God.’
The book challenges readers’ thinking on their own relationships with God.
Back to Isaac: Is he simply “independent”? But no pun comes with that one, I fear.

  5. Monarchist. I like it!
Victor, I can’t believe I have never came across that book before. I’ll have to check it out.
The book made me think of the joke about how God created dogs when he created Adam and Eve to remind human beings that were exalted above all creation. Then the fall happened and God created cats to remind human beings they were no longer the center of the universe. 🙂

  6. As to age, I think it is supposed to be about five human years to one cat year. That would make him 90. I’d say he is definitely ready for AARP … even if I continue to be in denial that I became eligible this year. 🙂

  7. Funny post… What about socialism? (Cats should have the same as everyone else, though they may be more equal).

  8. …so would that make him an Aristocat?

  9. LOL. Purrfect!
