NEW YORK — Aug. 4 has been good to Alex Rodriguez.

Three years to the day after Rodriguez hit his 500th home run, he became the seventh player in Major League history to hit 600 homers in his career with a first-inning blast off Blue Jays starter Shaun Marcum.

Rodriguez's landmark long ball came on a 2-0 delivery from Marcum with two outs and Derek Jeter on first. The shot into the netting over Monument Park was Rodriguez's 17th of the season, his 255th career home run as a member of the Yankees, his second career off Marcum in 18 at-bats and his 51st career blast against Toronto. It gave the Yankees a 2-0 lead. …

  1. Still can’t compare to old Babe Ruth. That guy not only hit home runs without steroids, he did it while on performance inhibiting drugs. I wonder how well Alex would do with a 5th of bourbon and some cocaine in his system?
    Not advocating drug use either way, but the times are different for sure.

  2. Yah, But A-Rod would look better in a Red Sox uniform ! Just maybe then, he would even look as if he was part of the human race….and let his hair down sort of speak.
    But he belongs to the dark side and has a record that is suspect like many others in professional sports.
