Ridley makes the case that trade leads to greater trust, cooperation, and prosperity. See my earlier post touching on the same theme, Do Market Economies Nurture Positive Social Behavior? I've just ordered Ridley's book. I look forward to reading it.

Interesting article, Dana. I’ll give that one some thought. This actually ties in with a book coming up on my list, “The New Holy Wars.”
Stafford talks about finding conspiracies in complexities that threaten us. I think there is also the tendency to find deity-like qualities in the complex things we embrace … like “invisible hands” or talking of the environment as conscious being.
Just for clarity, I meant I hope you review/blog the Ridley book, not the article.
