KSNW refuses to air ‘Daniel’

KSNW refuses to air 'Daniel' is an article in the Kansas City Star about a Wichita TV Station deciding not to air an NBC drama about an Episcopal priest. Here is how the report described the complaints:

A representative from the American Family Association saw a special viewing of the show on Tuesday and described it as an attack on Christianity, said Randy Sharp, its director of special projects.

Among the group's criticisms is that the show portrays Jesus — who appears and speaks to the minister — as a "good ol' boy, nonchalant, happy-go-lucky kind of guy," Sharp said.

"It's not a true representation of Jesus Christ," he said.

Also offensive, Sharp said, is that the show portrays everyone in the minister's family as dysfunctional: one of his children sells drugs, another is sexually promiscuous, another is homosexual, and his wife is an alcoholic.

This is the first I have heard about the story, so I have no idea how good or bad the story is. However, I was struck by the remark, "It's not a true representation of Jesus Christ." Hmmm… as in a blue-eyed, light-skinned, emotionless, soft-featured, soft-spoken Jesus with a lamb tucked under his arm?

This is just a guess, but since this is Kansas, I am guessing the real reason for pulling the show is that the priest didn't back intelligent design.
